2008 Grant Proposal Details
Total: $1840 Description: River Road/ El Camino del Rio is working to get all staff members an interactive white board. We have not been able to do this for our special education teachers who work with our most needy kids. We have a staff member who has gone to all of the district white board trainings and is ready to teach with a board. All we need to do now is to get her one. Our teacher works half the day as a facilitating teacher and half of the day with our regional cognitive learning center. If we are able to get her a white board she will be able to teach her lessons digitally and really engage her students. Students will be able to access content on the web, and all sorts of digital programs and manipulate the information in a digital format. Why is this important? This project is important because it will help to engage students in learning. Research has shown that learning content with a smart board engages students. Many of our special needs students rarely have an opportunity to interact with Smart boards in their regular classrooms. Being able to use a board with their teacher helps them to be successful and to understand how the technology works. Who will be served? This board will be used by the fourth grade and by half of the students in our regional cognitive learning center. They will use it every day. How will this be evaluated? We will evaluate the success of this project by doing interviews with the students who get to use the board and the teacher. Does this build on existing programs? This program builds upon what we already are working on here at the school by getting a smart board into the hands of one more of our teachers. Currently our regular education teachers have boards, but not our special education teachers. As we continue to train and share information as a staff, our special education teacher will be able to participate in the sharing. Budget: $1399 smart board - $349 stand - 5% back to school fund - Total $1840 Proposal #: 95 |
