An Artist for Everyone   River Road Elementary

Total: $500

Description:  We would like to have an artist in residence here at our school to work with our students. $500 would help us leverage current resources to get an Artist here two days a week throughout the year. The Artist would work with all of our students one day a week. The artist would focus on drawing, sculpture and clay. We have worked with this artist in the past and know that he would help our students learn how to be better artists and to appreciate art.

Why is this important?  Because we have many low income students, many do not have the opportunity to participate in art outside of the school day. This artist would allow our students to be exposed to art. Without this program many of our students would have almost no art education in their day.

Who will be served?  350 students k-5

How will this be evaluated?  We will evaluate this program based on interviews and surveys with students and parents.

Does this build on existing programs?  This program builds upon the current artist in residence program that we have at our school. It allows students more time with the artist and some funding for materials.

Budget:  $15 per hour X 33 hours= $500
