2008 Grant Proposal Details
Total: $500 Description: Many subject areas of our library are outdated and/or depleted. We would like to replenish our library resources by adding new titles and replacing old and damaged material. These new materials will be connected directly with important curricula such as technology, science, social studies, geography and history. Why is this important? In these subject matters, information frequently needs to be updated due to changing facts. We also find that the material currently in the library is limited and insufficient. Who will be served? All of our students (265 students K-5) will have easy access to these resources, which will provide current and accurate data. The new materials will also be shared by the entire K - 5 staff. How will this be evaluated? Access to accurate information will enhance our students’ learning experience. We will also monitor the use of these materials through the circulation data. Does this build on existing programs? Our library is currently fully engaged in supporting our school curriculum. This essential material will provide more varied reading opportunities and necessary resources. In addition, our library assistant teaches grade-specific research skills maximizing the use of our library material. Budget: The entire $500.00 will be used to buy books from a list of titles recommended by both the staff and our librarian. The average cost of a hardbound book is $15.00, so we hope to add 30 to 35 new books to our library. Proposal #: 90 |
