2008 Grant Proposal Details
Total: $350 Description: We would like to purchase an AverVision Projector for one of our 4/5th grade classrooms. This projector allows the teacher to project student writing or curriculum materials on a screen or SmartBoard, as well as to write or draw on ordinary paper and project it. The projector works with a document camera and has the ability to revolutionize teaching--with it, an ordinary penny or fossil (anything, really) can be magnified in great detail to be seen and drawn by everyone in the class, and then photographed and stored to be shown side by side with other fossils and coins. Students love to see their writing projected onto the screen for their peers to see! This projector also allows a teacher's computer to be projected on a screen or interactive SmartBoard, which is a highly engaging method of teaching using technology that we have currently in place. Why is this important? Sharing student work peer to peer is an important part of the classroom. This projector is an important learning tool for classrooms in the 2000s and allows students to proudly share their work to a whole classroom at once. This is an important building block in developing pride and self-esteem, as well as a huge time saver. We have seen the positive effects that putting these projectors into other classrooms has had on student involvement, and that teachers use their computers more effectively in the classroom with interactive lessons found on the internet. Who will be served? This year 29 students and a teacher would be well-served with this purchase. This purchase would benefit about the same number of students each year for several years. How will this be evaluated? We anticipate that this teacher will increase the use of available Science, Math, and Language Arts lessons that are available on in the internet, as well as allow better use of the document camera that is in the classroom. Does this build on existing programs? Our school purchased some projectors, document cameras and a SmartBoard with math grants that we received a year ago. All of our classrooms received projectors with the exception of this one. Budget: AverVision projector $350.00 Proposal #: 42 |
