Field Trip Adventures   Family School

Description:  Provide funding for transportation costs: 2 long distance field trips to the Oregon Coast Aquarium and Oregon State University, also 2 outer city limits trips to Mount Pisgah and City of Eugene Public Works Day.

Why is this important?  Without EEF's continued support we would be unable to provide real world connections to enhance our curriculm. Our school's units of study rely heavily on these community and real world connections. We try and take city buses whenever it is feasible, but trips to the Oregon Coast and locations beyond the city limits require the use of school buses. We are a Title school, which means the majority of our students are eligible for Free/Reduced lunches. Our families do not have the financial means to pay for both admissions and transportation costs when we go on field trips. We couldn't do it without your continued support, THANK YOU!

Who will be served?  All students in Grades 1st through 5th will use the bus transportation. We are currently capped at 124 students.

How will this be evaluated?  With students directly experiencing the connection between what is happening in the classroom and what goes on in the real world is a proven formula for success. Being able to see and hear the kid's excitement and those "Ah ha" moments that happen on these field adventures is priceless.

Does this build on existing programs?  It is a direct tie in to our goals of teaching meaningful units of study. Every year we focus on different specific science concepts: (plant growth and development, micro organisms, oceanography), world cultures, Oregon history, and artists and their techniques.
