2008 Grant Proposal Details
Total: $2000 Description: This project will provide a set of student response systems, also known as "clickers' for teachers to utilize in any of their classes. Why is this important? The clickers will provide both teachers and students with immediate feedback to any questions. Teachers and students can use the system to immediately determine whether or not concepts are attained. Immediate feedback and the use of independent response modules keeps students actively engaged in instruction. Having results provided after each question presented, both teacher and student know what material was adequately attained by learners. This set up will provide teachers with feedback that informs their instruction while they are teaching rather than at the end of a unit or with a final exam. Who will be served? We now have one set of clickers and 25 teachers. They are utilized daily and in high demand. We would ultimately like to at least have one set per grade level. How will this be evaluated? Given the enthusiasm on the part of Cal Young teachers for this new technology, it will be used frequently and by many teachers. We will evaluate the success of this project through check out and use of the unit, surveys by teachers and students on the effectiveness. This information will also be used to determine if we need to purchase additional units. Does this build on existing programs? This proposal builds upon the extensive amount and use of technology within our new state of the art school building. This new technological tool seems to be the next natural acquisition to extend informed teaching and student learning. We already have the necessary hardware to make this project available to all classrooms. Each of our classrooms has a built in projection system and a teacher laptop. These two pieces of equipment are absolutely necessary in order to use the student response systems. Budget: Total cost of Student Response System: $3200 per set. We would like to apply for two grants at $2,000 each. Per set: EEF Grant $2000 Building funds to supplement $1200 Total cost: EEF Grant $4000 & Building funds to supplement $2400 Proposal #: 15 |
