2008 Grant Proposal Details
Total: $2000 Description: Spring Creek Elementary School would like to propose the purchase of one classroom set (32) of student response clickers. Clickers allow each student to respond during lessons using a hand held device. This system allow all student to actively participate in lessons. In addition it gives students and teachers the feedback necessary to evaluate understanding of content. It allows students the opportunity to use math and reading skills throughout the lesson to interpret and evaluate data a it is collected. Student involvement is 100% either as an independent learner or in collaborative groups. Why is this important? Use of student response clickers in the classroom forces accountability and participation from all students. Every child can answer every questions! It gives immediate, meaningful feedback. Feedback does not identify which students answered correctly or incorrectly, creating a classroom environment where it is safe to try. Teachers receive additional information that allows them to adjust lessons to meet the needs of the group or specific students quickly and efficiently. This enables teachers to use technology to effectively evaluate student learning and create lesson plans that are responsive to students. Who will be served? The student response clickers will be available for use by all 400+ students, staff, and parent groups at our school. Site based training opportunities will be available. This will make it quick and easy to include clickers as a part of instruction, surveys, and enrichment activities. How will this be evaluated? Success will be evaluated by active student use and by adult training and subsequent uses. Does this build on existing programs? For the past few years Spring Creek has made a dedicated effort to integrate technology supported learning into our curriculum in a meaningful and productive manner. The use of clickers is the next essential piece in this ongoing plan. Student response clickers would immediately fit into the Language Arts curriculum for comprehension and vocabulary quizzes and activities. Added use in other curriculum areas would follow quickly. Budget: The entire amount would be used to purchase the clickers recommended and supported by 4j Instruction Technology guides. Proposal #: 107 |
